Raffaella Di Micco from Eva Hernando's lab has identified a key factor that maintains stem cell identity.  In the study, published in Cell Reports, authors demonstrate that the protein BRD4 regulates the self-renewal ability and pluripotency of Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs).  They also demonstrate that inhibition of BRD4 resulted in reduction of ESC multidifferentiation capacity.
